Detailed account of the Illin family who migrated to Australia in the early 1900s and attempted to establish a Russian settlement in North Queensland. The account weaves the story of Leandro Illin and his Aboriginal wife, Kitty Clarke, with their love of Russian literature and its mapping onto the Australian landscape.
