Size:
Initially four pages, then eight pages from 24 March 1848. At the start of Vol. 6 on 25 August 1853, the newspaper was published as a four-page broadsheet until 5 January 1856 when it again increased its size to eight pages. From 30 September 1857 the publication frequency changed and the newspaper reverted to 4 pages per issue.
Price:

Eight shillings and sixpence per quarter, seven shillings and sixpence if paid in advance.

The price was reduced from 7th August 1852 : 'In consequence of the great trouble and expense in collection outstanding debts, and in order to furnish ourselves with funds against emergencies we from this date have reduced our prices for the GOULBURN HERALD as follows:- If paid in advance 6s 6d per quarter, single numbers 6d, credit price as usual 8s 6d per quarter.' This discounted quarterly subscription offer was withdrawn on 28 May 1853 when the price reverted to 7s 6d per quarter if paid in advance.

A True Tale of Australia, M. E. (fl. 1848) , single work novella romance
A story in three chapters relating a tale of social climbing and inconsistent love. Edward emigrates to Australia leaving Jessy in England but swearing his undying love and a promise that he is setting off to find a happy home for her. Later, when Jessy arrives in Port Jackson, Edward is not there to meet her. He has forsaken his first love and has found another. Jessy returns home to England heartbroken.

A tale of the purported Lord Larolles, the third son of the Marquis of Ormandale, travelling the country districts of New South Wales incognito as 'Mr. Smith' in the secret service of the British government.
The Goulburn Lass, C. W. Morgan , single work novella romance
A tale of travel and abduction that leads young Walter Loraine to Goulburn where he encounters the Goulburn Lass, a mysterious and dreaded giantess of the bush.
