Notes

  • The manuscript for this novel was found by Booth's daughters amongst his papers in his Blue Mountains home. The book had been written soon after the conclusion of World War II and submitted initially to the Melbourne office of Hutchinson for publication. The London office of the publisher decided that the novel was too parochial and declined to publish it. In early 2001, the re-typed manuscript was submitted to NTU Press. Booth heard shortly before his death that his war story had been accepted for publication.
