AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'An account is presented on the Philippine deep weeping or "Paghaya", which is considered similar to singing. The wailing demonstrates the musicality of grief, and at times seems preferable to stylised expressions of grief through poems and stories or appearing at funerals with dark sunglasses.' (Meanjin)
