'The Case of the Metaphysical Whore is a detective story with a difference, when gumshoe Julius Marlowe is faced with a simple unfaithful wife case which is twisted into something much more sinister'.

Notes

  • Steve Taylor notes (in Scott Bowman's review) that the work 'began as a short story, and has since built into a play thanks to the BTC's [Barwon Theatre Company] "Playwright's Preview" season last year'.
  • Performed in conjunction with another one-act play, Radio: The Play, by Steve Taylor and Kevin Densley.

Production Details

  • First produced as s a workshop production for Theatreworks Writers Week, 30 June - 3 July 1988.

    First full performance by Barwon Theatre Company, Geelong Performing Arts Centre, 1-9 July 1988.

    Directed by Steve Taylor.

    Produced, again performed by the Barwon Theatre Company and directed by Steve Taylor, at the Ford Theatre of the Geelong Performing Arts Centre on 14, 15, 21 and 22 April 1989.

    Cast members included John Butler, Paul Friend, Meryl Baker, Christine Davey, Matthew Carmody, Danielle Dixon, and Simon Buckle.

    A second season ran at Theatreworks in St Kilda from 10 to 20 May 1989.

  • This production was workshopped at the Theatreworks Writers Week, Jue 30-July 3, 1988.
