Peter’s dad tells him stories about the different kinds of pine trees and pine cones. Shortly afterwards, Peter meets a pine-cone goblin, Monty Pine, who takes him to meet his goblin cousins. Peter meets Ben Bunya, Ken Kauri, and Murray Pine, among others. He also meets many native animals.

Notes

  • Dedication: This little tale of the woods is dedicated to a certain little fellow - his name is Graeme and the twinkle in his dark brown eyes was borrowed from the saucy elves and goblins of the land from which he came - and to all little people everywhere.
  • Epigraph: 'We are such stuff as dreams are made of -
