Author's note: 'When my first son was very small, he used to like to pretend that he lived on a farm, so I began to tell him this story. Soon it became a story of him becoming lost, and I told it to him so often that it became a book in our heads. In a way, we wrote it together and now we read it to Jesse's brother, Harry, and his baby sister Alice. Maybe the four of us will write one some day.' from Puffin edition.
