' First in the Seyrac series. The books in the series have been named as Notable Books in Australia. This is the lovely story of Florence, eldest of five children living in a French-Australian family. Florence is sad that her father Jeremie seems to not have the right kind of job--every day he come back from the office and says, How I wish I were an opera singer! Florence takes him at his word, and decides to try and raise money, with her friends, to send him to opera school. But sometimes the best laid plans go awry.' (Author's website.)
