'Fed up with her drunken stepfather and her dead-end job, Lennie runs away. Down south, though, things aren't any easier. The unemployment centre initially provides her with some sort of home - and special friends like Aud and Tub. But jobs prove scarce, and the system seems to be against then. Lennie finds her friends drifting - into drugs and desperate relationships - trying to forget the hopelessness of their lives. Even so, Lennie is determined to fight back in this gripping novel for young adults.'
