  • The review begins: 'This little volume contains the most satisfactory proof of the existence of native genius of a high order, that has been yet offered to the public.' The review includes quotes from the poems.
  • The review appeared in the Empire in April 1853 without the reviewer's name indicated. J. Normington-Rawling in his Charles Harpur, An Australian (1962): 182 identifies Daniel Deniehy as the author of the review.
