Notes

  • Dedication: To my dear friend, Phillip Mennell, F.R.G.S., author of 'The Coming Colony', I beg to inscribe this romance of Western Australia, In token of my warm appreciation of his great talents and real goodness of heart, also in commemoration of that brief, but remarkably pleasant trip we had together on board the Himalaya, when, with some other matters, we discussed a good deal about 'The Coming Colony'.

At foot of dedication: He is a man, take him for all in all.
