      Note/s:
      • Author's note: Fisher's Ghost is probably Australia's best-loved and most respectable phantom. It first appeared in 1826 and is said to reappear - for obscure reasons which this play attempts to explore - each year on the anniversary of its death. Since its history is fairly faithfully related in the course of the play, no further account of it should be necessary here. I must thank the trustees of the Mitchell Library, Sydney, for the opportunity to investigate it. The ballads in this play were first printed in The Bulletin.
