'A play filled with poetry and music, The Pathfinder is a blend of biography and song, as the life of the poet John Shaw Neilson is revealed through his brother's eyes and his own serene and mysterious verse.' (back cover of The Pathfinder).

Production Details

  • First produced by the Australian Contemporary Theatre Company for the Spoleto Melbourne Festival of Three Worlds at the Church Theatre, Melbourne, 23 September 1986. Director: John Preston. Toured Australia 1988. Includes some poems of John Shaw Neilson and the musical setting arranged by Geoff Baird, recorded 1987.
