'Translation and rearrangement of Australian-born novelist John Lang's work The Forger's Wife, or, Emily Orford, which first appeared anonymously in Fraser's Magazine in 1853. This French adaptation first appeared in 1854. It was serialised under the title 'Scènes de la vie des transportés anglais : la femme du convict' in Revue Britannique, a French literary magazine edited by Amédée Pichot.
