Premiered in March 1975 at the 'Australia 1975' Arts Festival, Canberra. Released commercially on 3 December 1976 at the Village City Cinema. The film was released in Greece in April 1977.

Notes:
1. According to Pike and Cooper (1980), the film was made on a budget of around $80,000, mostly raised through the Australian Film Development Corporation. The small crew of fourteen technicians included several recruits from the Australian Film and Television School (notably Gillian Armstrong and Graham Shirley). Although generally praised by film critics, Promised Woman failed to attract audiences.
