— Appears in: The Bulletin , 27 June vol. 86 no. 4401 1964; (p. 3) In his letter in response to John Small's column, White denies that he is working on an opera saying; 'I am not working on an opera, I may not work on an opera, but if I do, it will be known as Sculthorpe's opera; no libretto was ever more than the peg on which to hang the coat.'
