'"The Bush", a bit of verse of curious rhythm, which appeared in The Bulletin some years ago, has inspired Mr Howard Carr, the composer of "The Black Opal", to a "choric ode", which seeks to picture in music the spirit of the Australian forest.' (Source: The Lone Hand, April 1909)
