BiographyHistory

Expatriate, Derek Maitland, was educated in Perth and Sydney, later becoming a journalist there. He has travelled widely, reporting from Belfast, Vietnam and the Middle East and eventually moved to Hong Kong with his family. He has written extensively in the area of travel guides to Asia, particularly The Insider's Guide series and the Traveller's Companion series.
