Born: Established: ca. 1925 Victoria, ;
Mendoza married three times. Her first husband was an actor and her second died from a brain tumopur three years after their marriage. In 1960 she married Keith Mackrell, a Laski Scholar at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and later its Governor. She accompanied on two overseas postings - the Philippines (1960-65) and Australia (1969-73). The couple had four children.
Most secondary sources identify June Mendoza's year of birth as 1927. A few, including the Art UK website, inexplicably give the year as 1945 (sighted 30/10/2016). In a newspaper article published in 1938, however, Dot Mendoza records that her daughter was then aged 13 and her son 10 ('West Australian Returns.' West Australian 24 June (1938), 7.
The 1947 Sun article about Mendoza and the Miss Australia Pageant (see above) records Mendoza's age as being 22, further suggesting 1925 as her year of birth.
