BiographyHistory

Terry Mazarakis was born in Kefalonia, Greece. He attended Athens High School and then became a sales representative in marketing. In Australia he worked as an advertising manager and journalist for the local Greek press.

Mazarakis acted as co-ordinator for Greek festivals and concerts in Adelaide. He was a member of the Poets' Union of South Australia, the Multilingual Authors Association of South Australia and the Ethnic Affairs Advisory Committee for Festivals and Grants. He won first prize for lyrics in the Greek Song Festivals in Adelaide in 1980 and 1981. Outcry received a grant from the Ethnic Affairs Commission of South Australia for Greek Literature and Poetry and both Shooting at Loneliness and Outcry were literary contributions to the Glendi Greek Festivals of 1979 and 1980. He wrote in Greek, and translated into English.

He returned to Greece in about 1984.
