BiographyHistory

Lewis Coues Page, a stepson of Dana Estes, began his publishing career working in the Joseph Knight Company, a subsidiary of Dana Estes and Company. Joseph Knight became L. C. Page and Company in 1896. The company achieved success in the publication of American novels for young readers, including the L. M. Montgomery Anne series and E. H. Porter's Pollyanna.

L. C. Page bought out the Dana Estes titles in 1914 and so acquired a new range of deluxe classic editions, and additional children's authors. After Page's death in 1956 the company was sold to Farrar, Straus and Cudahy, which retained the L. C. Page imprint until 1980.
