Bridie McCarthy's research areas are contemporary Australian, Latin American poetry, and Latin American critical theory, working towards a cultural and print history of modern Australian poetry, as well as a study of the work of Chilean cultural critic Nelly Richard. In 2010 she founded and became Managing Editor of New Scholar: An International Journal of the Humanities, Creative Arts and Social Sciences.
