Michael Connor described his life in 1974: 'Lived Ballarat Boys' Orphanage until 1963 then moved to Melbourne and worked as a storeman for Georges of Collins Street. Moved to Sydney and worked at Darling Harbour Goods yard. Didn't wait for gold watch. At present living and writing in the country.'
