BiographyHistory

Darby McCarthy was a jockey. McCarthy was proud of his Aboriginal origins and learnt to ride at an early age on a Cunnumulla station. In the first three years of his professional racing career, McCarthy rode over 100 winners across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
