BiographyHistory

A graduate of the 2005 Clarion South Writer's Workshop (Brisbane), writer and editor Lily Chrywenstrom's involvement with speculative fiction fandom began in 1995. After attending her first Swancon that year she then became involved in the University of Western Australia Science Fiction Association (UniSFA). In addition to Swancon she has also been involved with Aussiecon Three; Convergence; Continuum; Borderlands; Conflux; and Fandomedia, and served as a judged for the Conflux Short Story Competition.

Chrywenstrom's short fiction has been published in the anthologies Gastronomicon (2005) and Outcast (2006), and in such magazines as Borderlands, Ticonderoga and Fables and Reflections. She has also contributed opinion pieces, essays and reviews to Greg Tannahill's zine, The Flypaper. Her story 'Tireki and the Wind' was shortlisted for an Aurealis Award (Best Fantasy Short Story) in 2004, while 'Ghosts of 1930' received an honourable mention in the 2006 Aurealis Awards.

As an editor Chrywenstrom oversaw the publication of Fables and Reflections between 2001-2006, with the 2003 issue winning a Ditmar Award for Best Australian Fanzine. She has also been nominated for three additional Ditmar Awards - 2002 and 2004 (Best Production, Fanzine), and 2003 (New Talent).

In addition to writing short fiction, Chrywenstrom makes sculptures and collages, several of which have been exhibited in the Swancon and Conflux art shows.

y separately published work icon Fables and Reflections 2001 Claremont : Fables and Reflections , 2001- Z1118363 2001 periodical (8 issues) An Australian fanzine publishing fiction and non-fiction in the genres of science fiction, fantasy and magic realism, Fables and Reflections was established in Perth in May 2001, with its first issue being published in November that year. Covering an array of forms, including short fiction, poetry, critical essays, art, cartoons, interviews, reviews and articles focusing on Australian writing, the magazine was cconceved by its founding editor as a forum for specualtive fiction that was "a bit different." It was initially published as a fanzine, paying contributor copies only, but by issue 8 had become a more professional-looking publication.

Among the artists to contribute covers to Fables and Reflections were Cat Sparks, Daryl Lindquist and Judy Canavan.
