BiographyHistory

Western Australian author K. A. Bedford wrote his first short story at age 14 and continued to develop his narrative writing skills through high school. From age 18 he attempted to write a series of novels until sidetracked into writing plays while studying writing, theatre, and philosophy at Curtain and Murdoch universities (Perth). After completing his studies Bedford undertook a secretarial course at TAFE. This in turn led to a public service position as receptionist with the Department of Health for several years. During this time he continued to hone his writing skills through several unpublished fiction works.

Bedford's first published novel was Orbital Burn (2003), which was released after he secured a contract with Canadian publisher by Edge Science Fiction and Fantasy (q.v.). Actively involved in the Australian science fiction community, Bedford has since had several more books published by Edge.
