Mark Coles-Smith is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAPA) and the Vistorian College of Arts (VCA) and as an actor has had a role in the SBS television series, The Circuit.

As an emerging Indigenous writer and director, Coles- Smith was a successful recipient of funding for the 2006 INDigenousfilmEX scheme (Index) for the film 'Layoordoo.' He was the youngest Australian to receive the Australian Society of Authors Mentorship Award for a manuscript.
