BiographyHistory

Louis Samuels was the second son of Jacob and Mary Samuels, who lived for many years at Walcha, in New South Wales. In the years prior to World War I he worked as a journalist at the Sydney Hebrew Standard and the Sydney Morning Herald. He enlisted in the AIF in September 1915, and subsequently served in the 1st Field Artillery Brigade. He was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry at Jeancourt, in September 1918. He was the brother of Edmond Samuels.
