Sandon McLeod was first published when she was in primary school, in the international magazine Our Women. Some of her poetry was published in the form of chapbooks, and she had her plays performed and several poems, stories and articles published in various literary journals. She also featured at various festivals and poetry readings in Victoria and interstate. The most amusing highlight of her career was winning the male section of a writing competition. In 2002 she was commissioned by the Shire of Nillumbik (Victoria) to write poetry about the local area. She was editor of Deadline Poetry Street Press and co-organiser of the Overload Poetry Festival. Over the years she travelled around Australia on a motorbike, as well as working for the Commonwealth Employment Service and various unions. She died in 2004 after a short battle with cancer, just prior to the publication of her only selected work.
