1 Diggers' Tales B. J. M. , 1869 single work prose A series of yarns told around the campfire by a group of men under 30 from a scattering of nations, all on their way to the Gympie diggings of Queensland in 1868. Includes the 'Story of the Bush Murder' set in South Australia in the 1840s and the 'Story of the Young Scotch Minister' set in London's Old Bailey, both on men wrongly convicted of murder. The 'Story of the Lucky Auctioneer' who unwisely married a Melbourne 'duchess'; 'Frank Hart's Trip to the Diggings' in which he uncovers a murder and finds enough gold to marry on near Bendigo in 1852; 'A Yarn of the Early Diggings' involving a bushranger; and funally 'Murder Unavenged', a true tale of the murder of the captain of a beached brigantine near Port McDonnell, South Australia, in 1852, and the escape of his killer.
