BiographyHistory

Originally a company largely devoted to publishing Oriental titles. In 1968 it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the International Textbook company; in 1974 it was acquired by Intext Publishing Group which in turn was purchased by Harper and Row. It is not listed on the Harper Collins website. The archives of John Day Company are at Princeton (http://libweb.princeton.edu/libraries/firestone/rbsc/aids/johnday/).
