BiographyHistory

Born in Striegau, Silesia, Germany, in 1939, Irmgard Duhs arrived in Australia in 1968. She has written in German and English and published in English. Duhs undertook teacher training in West Germany, and taught in schools in Germany and Australia. In the early 1970s, she lived for two years in England. Duhs has since settled in Queensland and devoted her time to writing. Her short story 'The Factory' was a prize-winning entry in the 1977 State of Victoria Short Story Award. In 1977 she was awarded a New Writers Fellowship by the Literature Board of the Australia Council.
