BiographyHistory

Thomas Corbett was born on Hillside Station sometime during the latter months of 1910. At six years of age he was taken away from his 'full blood mother to live under the auspices of and authority of his white father's people, but not to live with his white father.'

According to Corbett 'his culture was neither black nor white' because upon being taken from his mother he 'was forced to live in an alien culture so different from the tribal ways' he was just beginning to learn. Corbett also believed that 'obtaining an education is essential for Aboriginal advancement.'
