Ben Gannon founded View Films in 1984, shortly after his involvement with the making of Gallipoli - as Associate Producer. The new company's first production was the mini-series Shout! The Story of Johnny O'Keefe. This was followed in later years by Travelling North and The Heartbreak Kid. The latter film became the basis of a television series which became one of Australia's most successful television exports (being sold to more than 80 countries).
