Jarrary and Rinehart joined George H. Doran in 1919; in 1929 after Doran merged with Doubleday Farrar and Rinehart left to form their own publishing company. John Farrar of Farrar and Rinehart left in 1944 after returning from overseas duty in the Office of War Information and joined Farrar, Straus and Company.
