BiographyHistory

Having grown up in a culturally deprived area of south London, Iden developed a strong belief in the rights of socially and economically disadvantaged people to access the arts and cultural activites. A boilermaker who gained his Arts degree at Newcastle University, Iden was the founder of Make-Do-Theatre which evolved into Poetry at the Pub (PATP). PATP held monthly meetings at various hotels around Newcastle and also hosted monthly workshops that assisted in the development of Hunter region poets.

Iden died as a result of Parkinson's disease, but maintained his presence at PATP meetings until November 2002.
