BiographyHistory

Hecht-Hill-Lancaster (Australia) Pty Ltd was set up in 1958 to produce the feature film adaptation of Ray Lawler's Summer of the Seventeenth Doll. The eventual production was undertaken entirely in Australia using the Pagewood and Artransa studios in Sydney. This film was funded by the American parent company Hecht-Hill-Lancaster which bought the rights from Lawler (for a reported £134,000) in 1957.
