BiographyHistory

Bradbury and Evans was originally a London printing company, formed by a partnership between William Bradbury and Frederick Mullet Evans in 1830. The firm was the printer of the journal Punch (London), and began publishing it in the early 1840s. It went on to publish other journals, notably Household Words and Once a Week, both of which contained serialised fiction by well-known authors. The firm was notable for publishing the works of Dickens and Thackeray, as serials and in monograph, and a range of other significant fiction in the middle of the nineteenth century.

In 1872 the firm became Bradbury, Agnew and Company.
