BiographyHistory

Nikos Kallinikos was essentially a satiric folk poet, his work was not often written down, but some has been published in Greek and English. He finished primary school and 'scholarhio' on Ithaca, then moved on to Patra for several more years schooling, after which he was drafted into the army. Completing military service in 1906 he went to sea, arriving some time later in Australia. He made his living through gambling, travelling widely in Australia and following groups of Greek labourers from job to job.
