Bogumiła Żongołłowicz was born in 1955 in the Polish city of Słupsk, where she graduated from High School. She gained a Diploma in Polish Philology at the University of Gdańsk and a Diploma in History and Editing at the University of Warsaw. From 1978 to 1984 she taught in a school. In 1983 she published her first poems in the journal Głos Pomorza. In the 1980s she worked as a journalist and as editor for a weekly periodical 'Confrontation'. In 1990-91 she worked with Koszalińska Broadcasting Station for Polish Radio. Her writing was published in the Polish journals 'Integracja', 'Zbliżenia', and 'Gryf'. In 1991 she moved to Melbourne and began work with Radio 3RMI in Melton and has acted as editor for the Melbourne based 'Polish Weekly' and the Sydney based 'Polish News'. She is a member of the Association of Polish Writers and the Association of Polish Journalists. She has written biographies of several Polish Australians, including Andrzej Chciuk, and she has published articles in Polish in the 'Daily News' and the 'Western Courier' in Perth.
