Australian poet, editor, Eastern music musician and performer Mooney Singh graduated in journalism and worked in print media and for ABC Radio. He was the recipient of a South Australian Department for the Arts Grant in 1989. He adopted the Sikh faith in 1989 and has a strong affinity with Asian arts and culture. He spent time in India before becoming a permanent resident of Singapore, where he launched the Poetry Slam Cabaret in May 2003 and was an Associate of the Centre for the Performing Arts at the National University of Singapore. He became the Programme Director of Word Forward Limited, an organisation supporting the literary and performing arts in Singapore and Asia. His publications include The House of Winter (1990) and The Infinity Track (2003). 'Fish Factory', a libretto for contemporary opera, was performed at the Adelaide Festival Theatre in 1996 and a CD of poetry and music, Indian City, was recorded in India and released in Singapore in 1997. His spoken word music-fusion CD celebrating his Singaporean lifestyle Living in the Land of the Durian Eaters was released in 2004. He has been engaged in translating ghazals from the Urdu language.
