Artist and writer, Beryl Cruse was the 'oldest of ten children to Herbert and Elizabeth (Dolly) Henry nee Campbell.' After growing up at Summervale Aboriginal Rserve outside of Walcha, New South Wales, in the late 1940s Beryl with her family moved to the south coast. It was there that she met her husband Ossie.
Beryl Cruse helped produce the children's book, Bittangabee Tribe with Liddy Stewart, Sue Norman and others. The group also collaborated on the book Mutton Fish: The Surviving Culture of Aboriginal People and Abalone on the South Coast of New South Wales. Beryl is working to establish an archive at the Monaroo Bobberrer Gudu (Keeping Place) near Eden.
