Melbourne-based Peter Lawrance began writing while at university. He became a high school teacher and combined this with writing for various magazines, including Rolling Stone. Lawrance has written 'The Take', a column about books, for Inpress magazine and was at one time a partner in Kill City, the Melbourne crime bookshop. While continuing his teaching career Lawrance has also been an organiser of the Ned Kelly Awards for Australian crime writing.
