BiographyHistory

Annie Ridley came to Australia as a child with her father John Ridley, the inventor of the reaping machine. The family settled in South Australia. She is believed to have returned to England with her family in 1853. Ridley wrote Frances Mary Buss and Her Work for Education (1895), a biography of the nineteenth-century British educationalist. She also wrote the article 'Thrift for Teachers', which appeared in the Work and Leisure series of pamphlets in 1882.
