BiographyHistory

Leslie Rubinstein was owner of the Australian Jewish News. In 1933 he bought the Australier Leben, a Yiddish journal, which was subsequently edited by his father, Joachim Chaim Rubinstein. On 27 October 1933 the Jewish Weekly News was established by Leslie Rubinstein, incorporating the Australian Jewish Herald and Australier Leben. The partnership between the papers was dissolved in 1935 and the Melbourne Jewish Weekly News became the Australian Jewish News with a Yiddish supplement. In 1939 a Sydney Jewish News was established. Rubinstein sold the latter in 1973.

Rubinstein also wrote An End to Gold Scares : Mr. Morgenthau's answers to Senator Wagner's 12 questions. with commentary and 13th question and answer : a golden formula for world problems (1939?) and The Golden Key to Peace, Progress and Prosperity (1942), on Australian monetary policy.
