Kenneth McKenney worked as a geologist in Queensland between 1954 and 1955 and returned to Australia between 1962 and 1965 to work as a writer/producer of TV advertisements. It was during this latter period that the works listed in AustLit were published. He continued to work in television production in England, Europe, Mexico and Japan whilst writing his better-known science fiction/horror works. McKenney has contributed works on Australia (1993) and Mexico (1992) to Philip Wilson Publishers' Biography of Nations series. Other travel works include articles in Times Online and In the Land of the Marquis: An English Family in Northern Spain (2005) about Spain, where he has resided for over twenty years.
