BiographyHistory

Tulo Gordon grew up at an outstation called Spring Hill and later attended Hopevale Mission. Belonging to the Guugu Yimidhirr people of Queensland, Tulo Gordon was an artist and translator of the Guugu Yimidhirr language into English. Gordon's mother worked as a domestic servant. His father who was known as Old Charlie was forced out of his traditional country by police and relocated to Hopevale Mission. Tulo Gordon recorded some of his traditional knowledge and stories in the book Milbi : Aboriginal Tales from Queensland's Endeavor River.
