Novelist Herbert Jenkins founded Herbert Jenkins Limited in 1912. The firm's greatest success was in the publication of the work of P. G. Wodehouse. When Jenkins died in 1923 the company was purchased by Derek Grimsdick. It was taken over by Barrie and Rockliff in April 1965, forming a new company, Barrie and Jenkins.
