BiographyHistory

After selling Lansdowne Press to Cheshire, Lloyd O'Neil started an eponymous company which produced Australian titles for other distributors/publishers. According to ex-editor, John Currey 'Golden Press and Rigby had success with O'Neil titles released under their own imprints' (Paper Empires p. 40). Titles can have all publishers listed, as is the case in The Recollections of Geoffry Hamlyn: Adelaide, South Australia : Rigby and Golden Press and Lloyd O'Neil, 1975. Approximately 30 titles were printed; many of which were under the Australian Classics series. Sister company Currey O'Neil occasionally released the same 'classic' titles for example, Harry Gordon's An Eye Witness History of Australia and various Henry Lawson and Henry Kendall collections. Sometimes the place of publication was given as Hawthorn and other times South Yarra (location of Currey O'Neil).
