'Peter Lang GmbH was founded in 1971 by Peter Lang, whose family had been working in the bookselling and publishing business in Switzerland for a long time. He gained expertise in publishing in his father's business, Herbert Lang & Cie., which began in the 1920s. 1977 marks the foundation of Peter Lang AG in Bern, which since then has acted as the servicing centre for the group.
